ORLANDO, FL (July 12, 2024) – Top-tier healthcare publication Becker’s Hospital Review has recognized Dr. Ronald Ryan, MD CPE, Medical Director of the Rosen Medical Center as a 2024 Black Healthcare Leader to Know. The list honors leaders for their commitment to the healthcare field – shaping the patient experience, educating and training the next generation of healthcare providers, and furthering equity and inclusion.
Growing up in New York City as the son of immigrants from Trinidad & Tobago, it was his father’s aspiration for Dr. Ryan to become a doctor that initially sparked his interest in the field. However, he soon realized it was his calling to serve his community as a doctor, which lacked healthcare professionals who looked like him.
It’s Dr. Ryan’s values of service and helping others that has translated into his leadership style. In his time at the Rosen Medical Center, he has established the center’s values of integrity, compassion, excellence, respect, teamwork, innovation and stewardship. In his role, Dr. Ryan works closely with the Director of Health Services to explore the latest innovations in healthcare and to implement projects that are deemed suitable for the center’s diverse patient population. Dr. Ryan is also actively involved in providing direct patient care on a day-to-day basis.
“Working alongside Dr. Ryan has been an absolute privilege. He’s not just a skilled doctor, but a true leader who inspires everyone around him,” said Kenneth Aldridge, Director of Health Services at Rosen Medical Center. “His patients and our team are incredibly lucky to have him. Congratulations, Dr. Ryan!”
“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition. This recognition underscores the importance of diversity and inclusivity in the healthcare field,” said Dr. Ryan. “It is my privilege to serve my community and to work towards ensuring equitable healthcare for all. In my role as the Medical Director of the Rosen Medical Center, I will continue to strive for excellence and advocate for the well-being of our diverse patient population.”
Before joining Rosen Hotels & Resorts in 2012, Dr. Ryan was the Associate Medical Director at Hospice of the Comforter, specializing in hospice and palliative care medicine. After completing his residency with the Florida Hospital Family Practice Residency program, Dr. Ryan started his own practice and at times, practiced medicine in a variety of urgent care and family practice settings. Dr. Ryan graduated from Oakwood College with a Bachelor of Science in biology; he also attended Jefferson Medical College, now Sidney Kimmel Medical College, from which he graduated in 1995.
